Tear of Peace (‘Dam’at al-Salam’): presents a personal account of the exile, multiple dislocation and ongoing struggle of Palestinian refugees as told by members of the al-Mughrabi family. Following the 1948 expulsion from their home and land in al-Burayj village now located inside Israel, the family found shelter in the Deheisheh refugee camp (Bethlehem) until the 1967 war. The family members then joined the Palestinian resistance movement and were forced to relocate to Amman (Jordan), then to Syria and then again to the Ein al-Hilweh camp in Lebanon, where the couple raised four children until their home was destroyed by the Israeli military during its invasion in 1982. Their journey continued to the Sudan and Libya, until they were able to return to the Deheisheh camp within the framework of the Oslo process in 1995.

The film is an honest and brave plea for the legitimacy of Palestinian resistance against Israel’s military occupation. The al-Mughrabi family tells in their own words how on their return the Israeli occupation continuously undermined their struggle for personal security and family stability, of one son's broken dreams of a good education and of the devastating impact of the second Intifada (or uprising). With the outbreak of the second uprising, the Israeli military has killed one son, arrested another, and destroyed the family's home in Deheishe camp. "It is still the same enemy," says the father, Abu Ahmad, "the same enemy in 1948, 1982 and in 2002."
